Any website that wants to use a chat/messaging system can integrate the Ajax Chat System, which is a private chat/messaging system where the contacts are either all of the users or the user’s friends. It has two tabs: one for listing chats and the other for listing contacts. The chat system is real-time, based on jQuery, and offers a number of features, including user-assisted typing, new messages, user online indication, last seen feature, and many more.
